Answer for Bulldog Urethral Prolapse Reoccurrence

DEAR RICHARDO

Sorry to hear about your frustrating and expensive ordeal; unfortunately, I have seen many like you.

Answer for Bulldog Urethral Prolapse Reoccurrence / NEUTERING

Is he neutered? if not, please have him neutered.

Sexual arousal leading to an erection will increase the chances of a prolapse. There is a strong link between the two.

Answer for Bulldog Urethral Prolapse Bleeding:

Is there significant bleeding?

If not, exercise caution before attempting it again for the fourth time. It’s probable that by now, they have already conducted an amputation from the tip of the penis down to the penis bone (os penis).

If that’s the case, a radical penis amputation with urethrostomy might be the only available option.

Answer for Urethral Prolapse: MILD INFREQUENT BLEEDING

I would recommend tranquilizers for when he bleeds and minimal stimulus. Use a cold towel on the prepuce/penis area for 3 days with the tranquilizers.

The tranquilizers reduce blood pressure and activity, allowing a solid blood clot to organize.

An organized fibrous clot should stop the bleeding.

Answer for Bulldog Urethral Prolapse Reoccurrence Surgery:

The surgery requires skills and experience with the procedure, if it’s not performed well it’s likely to happen again.

BULLDOG URETHRAL PROLAPSE PEXY SURGERY:

Pexy (pulling the mucosal layer inward) is often adequate and way less traumatic, with much less bleeding, a shorter hospital stay, and a faster healing time.

BULLDOG URETHRAL PROLAPSE AMPUTATION SURGERY:

Urethral amputation is required in a severe case with a large prolapse, ulcerated mucosa, or tumor.

If amputation is needed I combine it with a pexy.

Answer for Bulldog Urethral Prolapse BRACHYCEPHALIC SYNDROME):

If he has any of the brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) conditions, such as an elongated palate, stenotic nares, or everted saccules, they must be surgically repaired before or during the prolapse procedure.

BOAS will cause intraabdominal pressure, injecting more blood to the penis and increasing the chance for prolapse reoccurrence.

Answer for Bulldog Urethral Prolapse LASER THERAPY & PEMT:
