Yeast and bacteria live on the skin as part of its natural microflora. They only turn into a problem when the skin barrier is damaged or compromised, and on a bulldog they get a head start: warm folds, poor airflow and a little trapped moisture are precisely the conditions they like. Our antibacterial and antifungal shampoo brings the numbers down and lifts away the greasy, crusting, flaking layer they have been feeding on, which gives the skin underneath a chance to settle.
Contact time is what does the work here, not scrubbing. Lather it in and let it sit on the skin for a minimum of 10 minutes before you rinse. Use it on a routine, start early rather than only when things already look bad, because with yeast and bacteria it is much easier to stay ahead than to catch up. If the skin is not improving, or it is an advanced stage of skin infection, see your veterinarian. Our topical therapeutics are often used to complement treatment in those cases, but at that point the decision on how to treat should be made with your veterinarian.
