Bulldogs and French Bulldogs Inflammatory bowel disease is an immune-mediated origin (autoimmune disease) that is associated with a food allergy. IBD can be extremely debilitating including protein-losing enteropathy and vitamin B12 deficiency.

Elongated Soft Palate
What is that?
Elongated soft palate in bulldogs and French bulldogs elongated soft palate is an abnormality that can cause increased airway resistance, as well as an increase in negative intra-airway pressure, laryngeal fatigue, and irreversible laryngeal atrophy.
Symptoms
The condition is exasperated by excitement or/and activity and manifested by a loud breathing sound (stridor). It often progresses to retching, hyperthermia, and life-threatening cardio, circulatory and respiratory collapse.

Brachycephalic Syndrome
What is that?
Brachycephalic Syndrome or Brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BCS, BOAS) is also called the “Flat Face Dog Syndrome, which includes the elongated soft palate, pinched nose, saccules, and hypoplastic trachea.
Symptoms
The condition is most noticeable during excitement and activity by the harsh, loud breathing sound (stridor), snorting, and often cyanosis, retching, hyperthermia, and collapse.

Laryngeal Collapse
What is that?
Long-lasting BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) will lead to fatigue of the laryngeal cartilage, cartilage atrophy, and irreversible end-stage laryngeal collapse.
Symptoms
Severe noisy respiration exasperated by any excitement or/and activity. Debilitating and life-threatening, cyanosis, retching, and often secondary aspiration pneumonia.

Food Allergy
What is that?
Food allergy is usually year-round (not seasonal) and is usually triggered by dietary proteins such as chicken, beef, etc. It typically triggers either an internal reaction in the gastrointestinal system or/and a dermal one that can include skin, paws, and ears.
Symptoms
Symptoms include digestive problems such as flatulence, diarrhea, vomiting when affecting the digestive tract, and itching, biting, and rubbing when affecting the skin, ears, and coat.

Gut Dysbiosis
What is that?
Gut dysbiosis is an overgrowth of bad gut bacteria, often due to the overuse of medications such as steroids and antibiotics. Chronic and acute stress, anxiety, and chronic disease can also induce dysbiosis. Probiotic, probiotic, and digestive enzyme replacement is recommended.
Symptoms
Gut dysbiosis affects adversely the “good gut bacteria,” causing leaky bowels, flatulence, diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss, and poor health. An imbalanced gut microbiome can also affect the skin.

Megaesophagus & Reflux (GERD)
What is that?
The megaesophagus is a dilation of the esophagus usually due to esophagitis a common outcome of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) mostly due to the brachycephalic syndrome, drugs, anesthesia, hiatal hernia, and certain foods.
Symptoms
Chronic regurgitation can lead to aspiration pneumonia with cough, lethargy, and fever.
