Clicking when walking flex/extend knee joint, limp, skips, hind leg non-weight bearing, bow-legged stance. The condition usually can be diagnosed early in life by an orthopedic exam manual palpation.

Bulldogs and French Bulldogs Hemivertebrae are due to inborn vertebral defects. It can involve multiple vertebrae; the defect can cause a wedge that compresses the spinal cord. On radiographs, the defective vertebra is often viewed in the shape of a "butterfly".
Depending on the degree of spinal cord compression, the symptoms can vary from none to severe. Neurological symptoms include pain, paralysis, and incontinence.
