The megaesophagus is a dilation of the esophagus usually due to esophagitis a common outcome of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) mostly due to the brachycephalic syndrome, drugs, anesthesia, hiatal hernia, and certain foods.

Symptoms

Chronic regurgitation can lead to aspiration pneumonia with cough, lethargy, and fever.

IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease)

Giardia

Giardia is an intestinal parasite common to bulldog puppies who were raised by breeders due to its contiguous nature. It’s an intestinal protozoon usually acquired from contaminated fecal material

Symptoms

Flatulence, diarrhea, bloody poop, vomiting, and weight loss. Due to its contiguous nature, other household pets might have similar symptoms.

Ringworm Dermatophyte

What is that?

Bulldog ringworm is not a worm but a fungal infection caused by a group of fungi known as dermatophytes. It is contiguous transferring from one pet to another and from the environment. Additionally, it is zoonotic, allowing an infected bulldog to transmit the condition to humans.

Symptoms

Your bulldog might be itchy, with hair loss and scaling. Sometimes it represents the classic rink like raised circular "worm-like" lesion. If multiple pet's or a family member all have a skin problem at the same time, ringworm as the underlining cause is more likely

Gastroenteritis

Symptoms

Bulldog Gastroenteritis can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, dehydration, gas/flatulence, and weight loss.

Intestinal Worms

What is that?

Intestinal parasites are more prevalent in puppies, breeders, boarding facilities, and farms. Immune-compromised or immune-suppressed are also vulnerable. The most common ones are roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, tapeworms, giardia, and coccidia.

Symptoms

Vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and malnutrition. Hookworms can cause anemia and a serious parasitic problem can cause intestinal obstruction and intussusception.

Pancreatitis

Pancreatitis is due to inflammation or/and infection. The pancreas has digestive catabolic enzymes that help break up food. The cause is unknown but might be associated with a fatty meal and cortisone Rx.

Symptoms

Bulldog pancreatitis often presents with vomiting, abdominal pain, possible diarrhea, anorexia, and lethargy.
